Too many scooters were designed for shopping centres and smooth footpaths. But in rural Australia, people live on acreage, farms and uneven terrain.

We knew mobility should never stop at the end of the pavement.

The Founder’s Journey

Next Level Tuff Mobility was founded by Grant Moore of Caloundra, driven by a desire to help his grandchildren experience a vibrant, active childhood despite their unique challenges.

When Grant couldn’t find mobility scooters tough enough to meet their needs, he began designing his own using bike components to build robust and reliable scooters that could handle adventure.

His passion quickly caught the attention of the community at car shows, vintage fairs and local events. Requests for his custom scooters began to grow, and a small idea turned into something much bigger.

Continuing Grant’s Legacy

When Grant’s health declined, he explored options to sell the business. However, he refused a deal that would have resulted in the scooters being sold at extremely high prices.

Protecting the community and values behind the company was more important. Eventually the Whirligig Group stepped in with a shared commitment to keeping mobility solutions affordable and accessible.

Today we proudly continue Grant’s mission — supporting independence, dignity, and freedom for people across Australia.



In Queensland, mobility scooters must be registered with the Department of Transport & Main Roads. Registration is free, however the scooter must be approved.

Tuff Mobility began when we saw firsthand how standard mobility scooters struggled on gravel, grass, sand and paddocks. People who loved the outdoors were being limited by machines that couldn’t keep up. We set out to build something tougher.
